This past week the weather has been pretty bad here in Tokyo with rain endlessly pouring down…
In the middle of this perpetual cycle of rain and wind I have mostly been reading or drinking coffee at my local Zoka coffee shop which FYI has the best coffee in the world! However, drinking coffee and reading certainly gets slightly boring after a while so I’m praying for the weather to recover quickly to enable me to step outside and enjoy my spring break.
Meanwhile, I haven’t been slacking off completely but also managed to do some work here and there! Actually I am featured in this month’s issue of HUGE Magazine, a magazine famous for its unique style tries to stand out from the crowd by being “artistic” in a way only the Japanese can pull off! The theme for this shoot was basically “Escape” or “crossing a border” and the energetic and slightly weird director asked me to sit on a ladder leaning on a wall with a rope around my neck…My only question is, how do they want me to “escape” from that mess??
Take a look at the pic and give me your thoughts! Japanese art direction can be quite crazy at times and this sure was among the more “unique” shoots I have ever done. Don’t forget to send me a comment! Looking forward to hearing your reactions on this one.
Starting from tomorrow (February 9th), Harlequin who publishes romance novels in a wide variety of different languages celebrates their 30th anniversary in Japan. In order to commemorate this huge event Harlequin will have a contest deciding who will become the new face for the company in Japan.
There are three categories and three different characters that will be chosen and these are Mr Royal, Mr Cool and Mr Latin. The winner of the contest will be on the cover of Harlequin novels as well as participating in many events around Tokyo, Japan.
In order to win this contest I need your help guys! I am a candidate for the role as Mr Royal and I would be eternally thankful if you would aid me in this quest to win the contest! You can help me by voting for me on the Japanese Harlequin website at this link - http://www.harlequin.co.jp/index.html
The website is almost entirely in Japanese but some parts are in English as well! If you click on the link at the bottom you will come to the page of the contest!
Thank you everyone and I hope that you will take the time to vote for me!
I just finished my final exams today so I am finally free to slack and work for two months until I start school again in April! I can’t believe a year has already passed since I started at Waseda University and that I will start my second year in April.
During the spring break I expect to spend lots of time with the new band circle I joined in which we will be playing cover tracks of The Killers, Radiohead, The Strokes and many more awesome bands. I will be doing the vocals that’s all I know…but I will keep you posted with some pictures and videos!
By the way, I have to recommend a new band to you called White Lies! They just released their debut album but they are awweeeesome!! I especially recommend the song called E.S.T. Check it out if you have the chance
Almost forgot…at the bottom of the post is the link to the Youtube video of a recent Go ji ni Muchu TV show I did! As you all know, I’m not doing the show anymore so this video is kind of a symbol and a swan song for my 1,5 years at MX TV! Enjoy…
春休み中はつい最近入ったバンドサークルといっぱい練習するつもりだよ!最初にThe Killers, Radiohead, The Strokesのような国際的に有名なバンドのカバーをしてどっかでコンサートやるぞ!(まだ先のことなんだけど)僕はボーカルをやるけどそれ以外の情報は分からない。。分かり次第に報告するし写真や動画をアップロードする!
Finally got the pictures from a webmagazine shoot I did for SLICE which is an affiliate of Yahoo Japan. Tey kind of make me look a bit rockish with that blend of Japanese tendency to combine anything humanely possible.
Overall I’m quite pleased with how the pictures turned out and it was a pretty interesting job to do. To bad I didn’t get any free clothes though…bummer Don’t forget to drop me a comment fashionistas!
Happy New 2009! Hope this year will bring you all that you desire and help you realize your dreams! Sorry for my lack of posts recently. Promise I will do better on that this year (its one of my New Year vowes)
I have some new pictures though that I would like to share with you guys. This one is a shoot I did for the used Clothes store Amber Lion in Kichijoji! Let me know what you think.
If you have been walking around Tokyo these past two weeks (around the Shinjuku, Omotesando and Harajuku area) you probably took a ride on the subway somewhere! If you look carefully you might have spotted a huge poster with me from this Sketchers job I did!
The poster itself is pretty scary if I can say so myself…The reason is that it is a close-up of my face and I’m crying while making a weird face I was supposed to be a Prince that forgot to weat Sketchers shoes when proposing to his Princess and consequently the Princess refused my proposal and I started to cry hehe
The poster might be in some subway stations still but in most places it is already gone (These ads go up and down pretty quickly). However I did manage to snap a pic with my blurry cellphone camera for your reference people
This update hasn’t got much to do with my modelling or acting jobs but more to do with one of my favorite bands! They have just released a new single called “Human” from their upcoming album “Day & Age” that will be released next month actually! Albeit their sound has shifted from the initial Indie Rock & Roll of “Hot Fuss” and to some extent “Sam’s Town” it is still an awesome song that deserves a chance.
Mr Flowers and the other guys seem to be taking a bold step away from their origins by completely shifting towards a more electronic sound (which could be heard in Mr Brightside) without any traces of the guitar riffs that made them famous. Its exciting to see bands renew themselves but I hope that when the new album is released it won’t be too much of a shock!
The Killers! Keep on rockin, Vegas style! That’s all for today
While I was absent for a long period I did a really interesting job for MTV and Levi’s. I still remember this job very vividly even today because I was so physically exhausted after I finished it. The job was for a new TV show called “MTV Unbuttoned” for MTV Japan featuring Levi’s Jeans. I am featured in the opening sequence (however my entire face is not shown) where the camera films close-up shots on various body parts such as arms, chest, stomach and finally the back where the MTV Unbuttoned logo is projected.
This was a pretty tiring job but really fun and interesting as I hadn’t done anything like this ever. The shoot was a long one though and I ended up with muscle pains the day hehe :)That’s all for today folks. If you wanna know more about the new MTV show please check the link below and also click one of the videos where you can actually see the clip where I’m featured. Also the picture below shows what kind of outfit I wore during the shoot! Don’t forget to comment! See ya soon…
